Hana Kwon(B.1990) majored in Illustration Design for her bachelor’s degree at Art Center College of Design located in Pasadena, California, USA, and actively building a career by expressing her honest emotions and memories through oil painting in fine arts and illustration. Especially, she captures the moments of flowing time that hoping to forever remember the moment, with this, the artist found herself controlling her emotions and discovers another self through the process of visualizing her thoughts and emotions that are difficult to express in words. In Hana Kwon's works, there is a character of humans combined with food, and make viewers go on a time travel from the character's facial expressions about food. For the artist, food exists as a recovered moment after the sickness, the makeup moment after the fight, and a celebration meal for the anniversary. Hana Kwon’s paintings of mealtime and food are not just drawn after finishing eating, but also sharing the moment of her warm memories, the food reproduced in the painting stimulates the sense of taste and reminds you of the memory. In our dynamic life, Hana Kwon's creations are a journey to find inner peace to herself at the same time, allowing many people to participate in the healing journey.
권하나(B. 1990)는 미국 디자인 스쿨 아트 센터 컬리지(Art Center College of Design BFA Illustration Design)에서 일러스트레이션을 전공하고 순수 미술 영역에서 솔직한 내면의 감정과 추억을 표현한 회화를 활발하게 선보이고 있다. 특히 지나간 시간을 포착하여 저장된 기억의 파편들을 말로 표현하기 힘든 자신의 생각과 감정을 시각화하는 과정을 통해 자신의 감정을 다스린다. 또 다른 나를 만나는 행위이기도 하다. 권하나의 작품에는 음식과 사람이 결합된 인물이 등장하는데 인물의 표정과 음식에서 느낄 수 있는 미각적 요소는 인간의 감각이 기억하는 감정을 매개로 물리적인 시간 너머의 특별한 순간으로 이동시킨다. 이때 작가에게 음식은 그녀만의 특별한 서사로 존재하고 있다. 단순히 음식을 먹고 그린 것이 아니라 기억하는 순간을 공유한 것으로서 작품에 재현된 음식은 과거를 비춰보는 도구이기도 한 것이다. 권하나의 창작 행위는 작가의 내면의 안정과 질서를 찾는 여정이며 그의 작품은 동시에 공감이 필요한 많은 이들을 치유하기도 한다.

MY Q (B.1981) was born and raised in Seoul, Korea till his teenage, then move to Hongkong with his family as an immigrant, after that he goes to the Department of Law at Keele University in Stanford, UK. Diverse cultural experiences and passion for music based on his abroad experiences made him release the album ‘Style Music’ under the name MY Q in 2007, moreover, he established the label ‘Question’. MY Q is loved by the public as an artist/singer song-writer who actively works on lyric writing, composition, arranged music, video directing, planning, producing, and creative direction. He did not only perform ‘After the exhibit’ at Seoul Museum of art in 2015, held an exhibition <MIKE: MY Q > at collecting beads to pool room project by D museum in 2018, but continuously collaboration with multiple companies including, fashion photoshoot, festival, and campaigns. He officially showed his paintings with the exhibition <What life are you going to have?> at 2GIL29 GALLERY march 2021. The technique of ‘Dub Da’ is drawing the musical notes and making the beats visually either regularly or irregularly on the canvas with many colors like the piano noise. My Q is going to have his solo exhibition with Shinsegye department store later 2022, furthermore, and he has an invitational exhibition coming early in 2023 with 2GIL29 GALLERY.
마이큐(B.1981)는 서울 출생으로 10대 시절 가족과 함께 홍콩으로 이민을 떠난 뒤, 영국 스태퍼드셔에 있는 킬 유니버시티(Keele University)법학과에 진학하지만 음악은 그를 다른길로 향하게 한다. 1997년부터 싱어송라이터로서 퍼포먼스 전반의 기획, 연출부터 음악 프로듀싱까지 총괄하는 만능 엔터테이너로 활동해오며 총 184곡을 발매하며 대중음악계에서 나름의 입지를 다져왔다. 음악을 통해 대중과 소통해온 그가 2021년 이길이구 갤러리와의 전시를 계기로 본격적으로 미술이라는 새로운 창작의 길로 접어들었다. 지난 20여 년간의 음악활동에서 예술적 영감을 창작물로 구현해내는 작업을 해왔던 음악가로서 그는 “음악과 미술은 결국 예술의 한 범주에 속한다”며 좀 더 솔직한 내면을 마주할 수 있게 해준 캔버스 작업에 열중했다. 하루 13시간이상 온전히 자신과 마주하며 치열하게 쌓아올린 그의 작업 세계는 굉장히 견고하고 매력적이다. 정규 미술교육을 거치지 않은 그만의 자유롭고 다양한 시도는 한계를 짓는 것이 무의미하게 느껴질 만큼 다채롭다. ‘DubDa(덮다)’ 라고 스스로 명명한 마이큐의 독특한 화법은 그가 곡을 만들 때 타악기로 리듬을 만든 다음 피아노와 기타처럼 선율을 더하는 악기를 쌓아 올려나갔던 것을 응용한 것으로, 캔버스 위에 나이프, 붓, 종이, 손 등을 이용해 물감을 칠하고 튀기며 표현한 뒤 바탕색으로 덮는 방식으로 진행된다. 음표를 하나하나 짚어가며 리듬을 직조해온 그는 이제 캔버스 위 물감으로 화면 위에 기호화 된 시각적 선율을 펼친다. 그는 동시대를 살아가는 모두의 고민이 담긴 주제를 통해 함께 연결될 수 있는 작업을 꿈꾸며 코로나 이후 급속도로 변화된 사회환경에 대한 질문을 던진다. 개인의 삶에 한정된 이슈가 아니라 모두가 함께 극복해야 할 문제로 느껴진다는 그는 평범하고 지루한 일상 속에서 반짝거리는 무언가를 탐구하며 표현해나간다. 2023년 상반기 이길이구 갤러리에서 마이큐 초대전이 있을 예정이다.

성태진 Taejin Seong

Taejin Seong(B.1974) got a bachelor’s degree in printmaking at Chugye University for the Arts for and master's degree at Hongik University, and then build his career worldwide in New York, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Originally, Taejin Seong focused on engineering, however, he majored in art with a special interest in art and history. Taejin Seong uses engraving techniques under the motif of 'TaekwonV', from his childhood, to engrave paintings on woodblocks and color them in layers. The Taekwon-V described by Taejin Seong represents not the heroic appearance of a steel robot, but the realistic appearance that exists in the contemporary era. Taekwon-V, who took off his armor and wore sportswear, looks friendly and contains satire about the joys and sorrows of young Koreans. Moreover, he has a great interest in the history of exploitation and the universe. In the series of <National Treasure[Kuk-bo]>, there is an intention to include a sense of criticism on the distortion and misrepresentation of history and to restore it. In addition, in the series <Beyond the Universe>, questions about the civilization of the Earth and the history of humanity that flourished the civilization. Like this, Taejin Seong's work unravels the story from the past to the present of the complex social issues to his exploration of the universe, which is the source of human curiosity
성태진(B.1974) 작가는 추계예술대학교에서 판화와 홍익대학교에서 석사를 전공하고 뉴욕 홍콩 싱가포르 세계무대에서 왕성히 활동하며 작업을 이어 오고 있다. 공학에 뜻을 두었지만 예술과 역사에 남다른 관심으로 결국 그림을 그리게 된다. 이 작품은 어린 시절 즐겨보던 ‘태권브이’를 모티브로 판화 기법을 사용하여 양각으로 목판에 도상을 새기고 겹겹이 색을 칠한 작업이다. 성태진이 표현한 태권 브이는 강철 로봇의 영웅적인 모습이 아니라 동시대에 존재하는 현실적인 우리네 모습을 대변한다. 갑옷을 벗고 운동복을 입은 태권브이는 친근한 모습을 하고 현대인들의 희로애락에 대한 풍자를 담고 있다. 사회적 무관심 속에 퇴색해버린 우리의 모습이자 소외되고 힘없는 서민에 대한 그의 애정 어린 시각이기도 하다. 이런 일련의 작업들은 성태진 작가만의 미술언어를 엿볼 수 있는 지점이며 과거부터 현재까지 대중적 공감 대상이 되는 모든 것을 작업의 대상으로 만든다.

Jaeeun Jeon(B.1972) majored in fine arts both in bachelor’s degree and master’s degree at Sookmyung Women’s University. The process of her work starts from reading. Jaeeun Jeon repeating the spaces such as kitchen, stairs, and hallway of a house described in literature and writing/painting relate things to her childhood memories. These imageries are suggested in coloring and space through stereoscopic language by needle and thread. Jaeeun Jeon deals with fabric and ornaments on canvas as elements as a form of the module to explore pictorial stereoscopic beauty between the flat surface and three-dimensional boundaries by dividing, expanding, and recombining. Her sewing processes are the time of accumulating the memory which erases the experience and then recurving, reveals, and exposes, over and over. New given meaning in the space can be interpreted as ‘construction’ by the artist’s imaginations and reasons of her personal experience and memories. Through the exhibition <Lieux Prives(personal spaces)> with 2GIL29 GALLERY, Jaeeun Jeon’s spaces from her memory were well-received to transform into an individual ventilator, moreover, she participate in Cheongju Craft Biennale, also Kiaf SEOUL in 2021.
전재은 (b.1972) 작가는 숙명여대와 동대학원 회화를 수학했다. 대학원 재학 중, 미술세계 대상전 수상, 현대미술제 최우수상, 경기도미술대전 우수상 등을 수상하는 등 평단의 주목을 받으며 성장했다. 그는 시립미술관, 광주 비엔날레를 비롯한 국내 유수의 전시공간 뿐 아니라, 중국, 일본, 독일 등에서 전시를 가지는 등 국.내외에서 활발하게 작품을 선보였고, 또한 국내 최정상의 패션매거진, 기업 등과 커머셜 작업도 함께 하며, 다양한 시각매체에서 작업활동을 이어가고 있으며, 2018, 2017 공예트렌드페어와 상하이 아트페어, 뮌헨 독일 국제 수공예 박람회 등에 참여한바 있으며, 각종 섬유크래프트책 출판과 매거진과의 project, 크래프트 관련 commercial work와 전시 협업작업을 진행하였다. 2020년 이길이구 갤러리 기획전 <Lieux Privés 사적인 장소들>을 통해 전재은은 기억 속 공간을 개별적 환기장치로 변모시키며 커다란 호평을 받았으며, 2021 청주 공예 비엔날레 특별전에 초정되고 2021Kiaf SEOUL과 2022화랑미술제에 참여한 바 있다. 전재은 작가는 회화 전공자에게 익숙할 캔버스와 붓이라는 매체 대신, 바늘과 실을 통해 자신의 이야기를 풀어낸다. 그는 “나의 바느질 작업들은 시간을 짓고 기억을 축적하는 작업이다.”며 자신의 기억 속 축적된 내적 경험을 지워내고 다시 새기는 드러내기와 감추기의 연속적, 반복적인 작업을 통해 형상화하는 과정이라고 밝혔다. 그는 개인적인 기억과 경험이 담겨있는 집이라는 공간을 재편집해 화폭 위에 새로운 공간성을 부여하며 작가적 상상력과 내적 사유를 보여준다. 다시 말해 시간이 흐름에 따라 기억들이 축적되어 쌓여가 듯 캔버스 위에 그 기억의 켜를 색과 오브제들로 쌓아 또다른 공간을 만들어 나가는 것이다.
캔버스 안에 드러나는 여러 건축물의 형상을 띄고 있는 기호들은 공간의 확장과 수축을 시각화한다. 작품에서 보이는 작가의 장소는 지극히 사적이지만 삶의 시간들이 겹겹이 쌓여 하모니를 들려주는 듯한 아름다움들은 우리 모두에게 시공간의 축소와 확장을 통해서 함께 공감할 수 있는 기억의 장소로 이끈다.

콰야 Qwaya

Qwaya(B.1991) who’s real name is Sewon Seo majored in Fashion design for a bachelor's degree at Sangmyung University. As an artist who came from an unusual academic education route, he received great attention for his unique art world with unpolished and freewheeling strokes. After the graduate, he is been invited to small to large exhibitions to showcase his unique art world, also been engaged in all types of activities beyond the boundaries of art, including album covers and various commercial projects. Moreover, he is considered one of the top emerging artists in the Korean art world, by works being sold out on the market. The process of Qwaya’s work that drawing as writing a diary every day, included in name “Qwaya”, from ‘Time passing the night in Chinese letter[Quaya]’, and “Q” from ‘Quiet, Quest’, like a night of silence and solitude. For example, exhibition <Ordinary People> at 2GIL29 GALLERY in 2020, Qwaya drew public consensus with the emotions of every day and characters that seemed to be worthless because they were too ordinary. Subsequently, he presented a series of works examining relationships and attitudes, such as hatred and anger towards society issues at the exhibition <About the Attitude> at 2GIL29 GALLERY in 2021.
본명은 서세원. 콰야(B.1991)는 상명대학교에서 의류디자인을 전공하였다. 아카데믹한 정규교육을 받지 않은 작가로서, 다듬어지지 않은 자유분방한 필치로 독특한 작품 세계를 선보이며 큰 호평을 받았다. 졸업 후 크고 작은 기획전에 초대되어 독특한 예술 세계를 선보이고 있으며, 앨범 커버 재킷 및 여러 상업 프로젝트 등, 예술의 경계를 넘어 전방위적인 활동을 하고 있다. 또한 미술 시장에서는 작품들이 완판되는 쾌거를 이루는 등 최근 한국미술계에서 주목받는 신진 작가 중 한 명으로 손꼽히고 있다. 매일매일 일기를 쓰듯 그림을 그리는 콰야의 작업은 밤을 지나는 시간, ‘과야(過夜)’와 조용한 탐색 ‘Quiet, Quest’의 머리글자 Q에서 얻어진 ‘콰야’라는 이름처럼 침묵과 고독의 밤이 담겨 있다. 2020년 이길이구 갤러리에서 선보인 <보통의 사람들>에서 콰야는 일상적이고 평범해서 가치가 없을 것 같은 매일의 날들과 인물들의 감정을 담아 대중들의 공감대를 끌어냈다. 이어서 2021년도에 이길이구 갤러리에서 열린 <태도에 관하여>에서는 여러 사회적 이슈들로부터 생기는 혐오와 분노 같은 문제를 조명하며 관계와 태도를 고찰한 일련의 작업을 선보였다.

Jeehui Hong(B.1986) majored in Graphic Design at Kaywon University of Arts and Design, also majored in Illustration at Kookmin University Graduate school, after then she has been working in the commercial field for a while. However, she got into the path of fine arts with a desire to do work that shows her own color and inside. Recently, Jeehui Hong has been recognized as a remarkable artist by presenting several interesting exhibitions and projects with global commercial brands. She discovers the value of art from looking into the cycle of things we repeatedly consume and produce, not separating the realm between life and art. Jeehui Hong is not afraid to explore the medium, especially. Artificial chemicals, cosmetics, pieces of glass, and natural materials such as red clay, charcoal, graphite, and salt, which were daily byproducts and wastes, are reborn as beautiful pieces by artist Jeehui Hong’s touch. The process of creating works through daily elements represents silent communication which shares one’s thoughts and emotions from everyday life. The action of creation through the exploration of the media symbolizes an invisible time to reconsider the attitude or way of life. It is more like an expression of the artist’s will to capture the imagery landscape inside her than pursuing completeness of genres.
홍지희 작가(B.1986)는 계원예술대학교에서 그래픽 디자인과 국민대 대학원에서 일러스트레이션을 전공하고 한동안 커머셜 작업을 해왔다. 그러나 자신의 색깔과 내면을 담을 수 있는 작품을 시도해보고 싶다는 열망으로 순수미술의 길에 접어들었다. 최근 홍지희 작가는 다수의 흥미로운 전시와 글로벌 커머셜 브랜드들과의 여러 프로젝트들을 선보이며 자신의 색깔이 확실한 작가로 인정받고 있다. 2020년 이길이구 갤러리와의 전시 <보이는 것과 보이지 않는 것:Le Visible Et L’Invisible> 에서는 그가 기존에 탐구했던 여성성에서 한 걸음 더 나아가 자신의 내면 속 질문에 충실한 답을 찾아가는 작품들을 선보였다. 현대 자본주의 사회에서 예술가로서 홍지희 작가는 우리가 반복해서 생산하고 소비하는 수많은 생산물의 순환문제와 과거의 산물을 들여다보며, 생활과 예술의 영역을 분리하지 않고 지금, 여기에서 예술의 가치를 발견하는 작업을 시도한다. 홍지희 작가는 특히 매체의 탐구를 두려워하지 않는다. 인공적인 화학품, 코스메틱, 유리조각과 자연 소재인 황토, 숯, 흑연, 소금 등, 일상의 부산물과 잡다한 쓰레기였던 소재들은 홍지희 작가의 손을 거쳐 보석처럼 섬세하고 반짝거리는 아름다운 부조의 모습으로 거듭난다. 일상 소재로 작품을 창작하는 과정은 일상에서 길어올린 생각과 감정을 나누는 무언의 소통으로서 대변된다. 매체의 탐구를 통한 창작 행위는 삶의 태도나 방식을 다시 생각하는, 보이지 않는 시간을 상징한다. 이는 장르적 완결성을 추구한 것이기 보다는 홍지의 작가 내면의 심상적 풍경을 담아낸 의지의 표현으로 해석 될 수 있다.
