2GIL29 GALLERY presents “jeux des images” by Gezamo, which is the artist’s pseudonym, (Korean name: SangJun Chon, b. 1969, Seoul) from April 12th to April 27th, 2018. Gezamo, photographer Sangjun Chon, studied illustration at Parsons School of Design and completed M.F.A Digital and Technology at the same school. He is currently working in New York, the world’s foremost arts scene. His works to be presented will be the familiar and ordinary scenes that anyone can easily encounter when they pass through the streets of New York and every corner of Korea. The everyday scenes are photographed by the artist himself, added his imagination with his refined illustration, dramatized theatrically, and given new vitality.
2GIL29 GALLERY <이길이구 갤러리>는 2018 년 4 월 12 일부터 5월 15일까지 한국과 미국을 오가며 작업세계를 넓혀 가고 있는 Gezamo (한국명: 전상준 1969년생 서울출생)라는 예명으로 활동하는 작가의 “jeux des images” 전시를 개최한다. 전상준 작가는 파슨스 디자인스쿨에서 일러스트레이션을 전공하고, 동 대학원에서 M.F.A. Digital and Technology를 공부했다. 그는 현재 가장 세계적인 미술 무대인 뉴욕에서 활동하고 있다. 이번 전시에 소개될 그의 작업 (총 18점) 들은 작가가 생활하고 있는 뉴욕의 길거리와 한국의 어디서나 마주쳤을 듯한 익숙하고 일상적인 장면들을 사진으로 직접 촬영하고 작가의 세련됨을 더한 상상력으로 일러스트로 각색, 연극적이면서도 새로운 생명력을 갖게 된 작품들이다.
Gezamo's “jeux des images”
Photography always stops the passage of time in some places. So, the images of photography are the traces of the past where solitude and emptiness remain. But, when these images meet cartoon images, they get new vitality. Because the good humor of cartoon images transforms the time of places into vivid time, the images of photography become the “jeux des images.”

사진은 항상 어떤 장소의 시간을 멈추게 한다. 사진 이미지는 항상 과거의 흔적이며, 그 흔적 속에서 고독과 공허만이 남는다. 하지만 이러한 사진 이미지에 만화 이미지가 결합될 때, 사진 이미지는 새로운 생명력을 부여 받는다. 만화 이미지의 유머는 사진이미지의 장소를 살아있는 시간으로서 변형 시킴으로써 “이미지의 유희”의 즐거움이 드러나게 되는 것이다.
