Aligning the Stars

"Aligning the Stars", a collaborative exhibition between Art Chosun Space and 2GIL29 GALLERY, will be taking place from August 3 to September 3. Art Chosun, the only art specialized media in Chosun Media Group, opened in January the Art Chosun Space, a contemporary culture & art complex, in Gwanghwamun (Seoul), the center of the Korean cultural landscape. Art Chosun Space was built to explore the aesthetic values of everyday life and to discover new cultural possibilities as well as new ways of communication and interaction between the art and the public.

This year's exhibitions are all part of Art Chosun Space’s opening special series, featuring not only Art Chosun Space’s solo projects, but also various types of collaborative exhibitions planned together with different institutions, galleries, and companies. The exhibition “Aligning the Stars”, also part of the opening special series, has been designed with 2GIL29 GALLERY, which has been actively introducing various types of contemporary exhibitions to the public since its opening in 2015. The way 2GIL29 GALLERY has grown expanding under a good amount of attention and interest in the Korean art scene is similar with Art Chosun's DNA.

Woona Baik, the director of 2GIL29 GALLERY, said: "Running a gallery, I come across with millions of stars. Among them, I met the ones that I could catch and embroider together. Looking at them, I wish I could become a night sky where they can radiate all of the light they hold. However, I'm always careful not to affect or interfere with the way they shine in any way, so that they can show all they have without losing their color. This summer, we present you six twinkling stars who deserve a dark night sky where they can shine as much as they want: Hana KWON, MY Q, Taejin SEONG, Hyeonkyeong YOU, Jaeeun JEON, and QWAYA. We have carefully aligned them into a beautiful constellation, which will hopefully bring even more joy to all of you. Please look forward to what each of our unique artists will offer as when aligned as a whole.”

The interpretation of a subject is related with the perspective on the subject. Art Chosun has been introducing different artworks and various types of art through the media, whereas 2GIL29 GALLERY has been showing them through the exhibitions. As a matter of fact, the collaboration between the two, both full of profound insight, is very much expected. Along with its unique content ability, Art Chosun has been introducing to the public a diverse set art content. As an art specialized media, Art Chosun is now looking forward to present art not only through the press, but also through well-organized exhibitions.
