MY Q (B. 1981)

​MY Q is a Seoul-born artist who spent his formative years in Hong Kong, cultivating a diverse cultural sensibility. A longtime singer-songwriter and producer, he made his official debut in the art world in 2021 with his first solo exhibition, What are you doing the rest of your life?, held at 2GIL29 GALLERY. His paintings visualize emotional currents and psychological landscapes through free-flowing lines, bold color, and brushstrokes that oscillate between spontaneity and repetition. His canvases, layered with rhythm, void, and emotional depth, reflect a natural fusion of musical instinct and painterly language. Following his 2023 solo exhibition Soft Slam at 2GIL29 GALLERY, he broadened his artistic spectrum in 2024 by participating in the group exhibition Metamorphosis at the Kim Chong Yung Museum. He is currently preparing a new body of work for his upcoming solo show at 2GIL29 GALLERY in Seoul, scheduled for October 2025. In the first half of 2025, MY Q collaborated with IKEA Korea on a special project that bridged the gap between art and everyday life. Under the theme Creative Space of Inspiration, he designed a space where work and rest coexist, proposing a living environment infused with his painterly perspective and emotional structure. The showroom, arranged with IKEA pieces reimagined through his personal aesthetic, vividly demonstrated how art can breathe within daily spaces. MY Q has also collaborated with Shinsegae Department Store, Art Chosun, and several other global brands, further expanding the boundaries of contemporary art. Through these interdisciplinary projects, he continues to explore a new artistic flow where painting, design, and lifestyle are organically connected. With a commitment to deepening and expanding his visual language, MY Q translates the rhythm of life and emotional residues into color and line—establishing a uniquely intuitive and emotionally resonant presence within contemporary painting.

MY Q 마이큐 (B,1981)

어린 시절을 홍콩에서 보내며 다양한 문화적 감수성을 체득했습니다. 싱어송라이터이자 프로듀서로 오랜 시간 음악계에서 활동해온 그는, 2021년 2GIL29 GALLERY에서 열린 첫 개인전 〈What are you doing the rest of your life?〉를 계기로 미술계에 본격 데뷔했습니다. 그의 회화는 자유로운 선과 대담한 색채, 즉흥성과 반복을 오가는 붓질을 통해 감정의 흐름과 심리적 풍경을 시각화합니다. 리듬과 여백, 감정의 진폭이 얽힌 화면은 음악적 직관과 회화적 언어가 자연스럽게 공존하는 결과물입니다. 2023년 2GIL29 GALLERY에서의 개인전 〈Soft Slam〉 이후, 2024년에는 김종영미술관 기획전 〈어떤 변화: Metamorphosis〉에 참여하며 예술적 스펙트럼을 확장했습니다. 오는 2025년 10월, 서울 이길이구 갤러리에서의 개인전을 앞두고 새로운 시리즈 작업에 몰두하고 있습니다. 특히 그는 이번 상반기, 이케아 코리아와의 협업 프로젝트를 통해 예술과 일상의 경계를 확장했습니다. ‘창의적인 영감을 빚어내는 공간(Creative Space of Inspiration)’을 주제로 한 이번 프로젝트에서 마이큐는 작업과 휴식이 공존하는 공간을 직접 설계하며, 자신의 회화적 시선과 감정 구조를 반영한 생활 환경을 제안했습니다. 쇼룸은 이케아의 다양한 제품을 그의 취향과 감각으로 재배열한 형태로, 예술이 공간 속에서 어떻게 살아 숨 쉬는지를 선명히 보여주었습니다. 이외에도 신세계백화점, 아트조선, 세계적인 글로벌한 기업 브랜드들과의 협업을 통해 미술의 외연을 넓히며, 회화와 디자인, 라이프스타일이 유기적으로 연결되는 새로운 흐름을 만들어가고 있습니다. 앞으로도 더 깊고 넓게 자신만의 조형 세계를 견고히 해나가며, 마이큐는 삶의 리듬과 감정의 잔상을 색과 선으로 풀어내는 동시대 회화의 감성적 언어를 계속해서 구축해 나갈 것입니다.
