MY Q 마이큐 (B. 1981)
홍콩에서 유년 시절을 보낸 마이큐(MY Q)는 싱어송라이터이자 프로듀서, 그리고 시각예술가로서 음악과 회화를 리듬, 직관, 색채를 통해 유기적으로 결합하는 예술세계를 구축해왔다. 2021년 이길이구갤러리 개인전 《What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?》를 통해 미술계에 데뷔했으며, 감각적 리듬감과 회화적 서정성이 조화를 이루는 화면으로 주목받았다. 그의 작업은 리듬감 있는 선, 대담한 색채, 즉흥적이면서도 반복적인 붓질을 통해 감정과 심리의 흐름을 시각화하며, 음악과 회화가 공존하는 독자적 미학을 만들어낸다. 이후 2023년 개인전 《Soft Slam》과 2024년 김종영미술관 기획전 《어떤 변화: Metamorphosis》에 참여하며 소리, 몸짓, 시각적 인식의 확장된 관계를 탐구해왔다. 최근 이케아 코리아(IKEA Korea)와의 협업 프로젝트를 통해 창작과 휴식이 공존하는 예술적 공간을 제안하며, 일상과 예술을 잇는 새로운 미적 가능성을 보여주며 많은 대중들에게 현대미술가로 각인되고 있다.
Raised in Hong Kong, MY Q is a singer-songwriter, producer, and visual artist who has built an artistic universe that organically fuses music and painting through rhythm, intuition, and color. He made his debut in the art world with his 2021 solo exhibition What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life? at 2GIL29 GALLERY, drawing attention for his compositions that harmonize sensual rhythm and lyrical abstraction. His work visualizes the flow of emotion and psychology through rhythmic lines, bold colors, and intuitive yet repetitive brushstrokes, creating a distinctive aesthetic in which music and painting coexist. He has since expanded his practice with the 2023 solo exhibition Soft Slam and the 2024 group exhibition Metamorphosis at the Kim Chong Yung Museum, exploring the evolving relationship between sound, gesture, and visual perception. In his recent collaboration with IKEA Korea, MY Q proposed an artistic environment where creation and rest coexist, bridging everyday life and art. Through this, he has become widely recognized as a contemporary artist whose work resonates with both artistic depth and public sensibility.
